  1. Arturia's synths sound very different from what they are trying to emulate.

I suspect they just take the same underlying synth engine and tweak it, vs. really try to model something.

The original sounds way better here anyway.

  2. Sure, whatever you say. Of course the thicker analog sounds sound better from the ANALOG circuitry, however, in a full mix I'd bet the good Doktor would be hard-pressed to identify which was which. Arturia did a fantastic job with their version. Some of the brighter factory sounds actually work better in a mix from the virtual PV. A synth with analog character is not always "better". Remember the 80's at all? Next... ;P

  3. No comparison. Butter vs margarine.

  4. I agree in a mix it's hard to say which would be authentic. And I'm not suggesting Aurturia's stuff sounds bad. I'm saying that in this industry their emulations are pretty far from the mark. For instance, I have an Arp 2600, and the TimeWarp emulation sounds very close, but the Arturia's sounds like a door buzzer in comparison. Some of Arturia's stuff sounds good, but I have a problem with the quality and precision of their emulations. I'd rather they say 'inspired by' or 'loosely inspired by' and leave it at that.
