Time Scape Wave Sequencer preliminaria

YouTube via benpumpkin. Folktek on Ebay
"This is a brief preliminary video meant to be a visual presentation (not a sonic one) of the "Time Scape Wave Sequencer" by Arius Blaze of Folktek. There will be more to come. enjoy"

MIDItriggs clock out demonstration

YouTube via MusicMiK
"This is the demonstration of my current small project called MIDItriggs, an universal, open-source MIDI to/from trigger interface for old analog beatboxes and drum machines.

This video demonstrates the clock output feature, which is just added "because we can" :)

You can synchronize and control MIDI sequencers using the built-in sequencer of your beatbox, in the case of the Hohner Automatic Rhythm Player, this is some TTL logic with a diode matrix.

Of course, you can also send the machine trigger signals as MIDI notes, but in this video, they are filtered, just the start/stop/clock messages are sent to the RM1x.

The project will be published with source code, schematics and documentation this weekend.

The firmware is smaller than 4 kilobytes and uses less than 512 bytes of RAM, so it can be used on an ATmega48, while using an ATmega88 or larger can even give you boot loader capabilities to update the firmware over MIDI. The MIDIboot boot loader for this is already published."

Update:

MIDItriggs configuration demonstration

"Here, i show you how to update the MIDItriggs firmware if you use the MIDIboot loader in your MCU, which is an ATmega88 in my unit.

Besides this, i show you how the configuration of MIDItriggs works with just one button for the input (and MIDI events to set MIDI channel and the mappings of instruments), while for the feedback, the sound generators in the beatbox are used to give simple patterns telling you the current state of the configuration items.

The source code, schematics and documentation are public now, you can find everything about the project here: http://www.mik-music.org/MIDItriggs

Soon, a new version with completed documentation and PCB layout will follow, the project will grow as i find other units i can attach this nice toy to. The hardware might need changes for some other units, like the Roland CR-78, which also would be an interesting candidate for this, i just don't have one currently, so this has to wait a bit."

Neural Agonizer - brief test thing

YouTube via sduck409

"Greetings from shaky camera world! Video is from my flip video camera thingy, audio is recorded into SoundBooth, no added effects of any kind. Just a quick demo of some of the things my very new Neural Agonizer can do. Oh - the Neural Agonizer is an enhanced spring reverb for analog modular synthesizers - it uses 2 reverb tanks, and was designed by Scott Juskiw of Tellun Industries. I haven't spent a lot of time calibrating the thing yet, so the settings are not optimal - it's all a bit too dark sounding to me, and the stress and trauma knobs don't have enough effect yet. I'll add some annotations of what's going on, but if you're watching this on an iphone or something similar you may not see those."

Making MFOS Sequencer frames.

YouTube via akorbeti
"A sequence of the making of a sequencer. A meta-sequence. Each component placed on the beat, is another frame on the pic sequence. It starts with some components pre-soldered. This sequencer is built to be shown on http://www.synthfrog.com"

"A slightly more musical version of the last demo. This one features a VCO consisting solely of an XOR gate with one input held high feeding back on itself through a lag processor. It actually tracks better than the last NOR one."

Folktek Time Scape Wave Sequencer

via the Folktek Arts blog where you will find more images.
Folktek on Ebay
"A brand new masterwork by Arius Blaze. The "Time Scape Wave Sequencer" is a sampler, processor and synthesizer with a built in 8 step sequencer. The touch board controls the polyphonic synth part which can be fed through delay or any combination of thousands of possibilities for wave shaping as well as the possibility of having the shape altered in time with the sequencer."

"magnetic sequencer w/ three conga tones

using three Hall Effect Sensors

dc speaker is pulse width modulated for speed control
mangets are placed on spinning mole can to make rhythms
three channels - as many magnets are you can fit on it
i only have four magnets right now sorry
three twin-tee drum tones and small amp

i was lazy and put them all on the same transformer
im going to put another supply in just for the audio section
but the motor interacting w/ the amp is funny

was orig built on piece of wood as base - and then built case

"This is not intended to be a musical performance but merely a demonstration of a voltage controlled oscillator I patched up from several NOR gates and lag processors whose mistracking of an applied control voltage creates pleasant artifacts reminiscent of the Doepfer A-196 Phase Locked Loop."

Treating the Times square electribe through the Doepfer Wasp and Bi-n-tic filters.mp4

YouTube via RothHandle
"A short little film from todays sessions at Roth Händle. Today I was preparing files for the Akaba mix but also a possible outsourced commercial mix...

This film shows me running the Electribe rhythm through my modular system. Using the Doepfer wasp filter and the Bi-n-tic VCF. A lot of this stuff I do by ear listening and then just rolling with it...It is everything but science...

This film was shot at my studio, Roth Händle. The studio started in my apartment and then it started to grow. I started out using a Akai Dps-12 and I fell in love with the format but now I am working on three akai dps-24s. I never fancied the idea of watching music on a screen or looking at tumbling time glasses.
If you are curious to read more ramblings and tales of sonic misadverntures
please visit www.roth-handle.nu It hasnt been updated for ages but you just might find some pieces of interest..."

ANALOG SYNTH MIDI CONVERTER

via these auctions
"This was built a few days ago with a Pro CNC PCB that I had ordered. This is a MIDI to Control Voltage converter to connect a MIDI keyboard or your Computer Sequencer to your Analog gear that have CV inputs based on 1v / Octave Standard.

-This has an onboard Portamento/Glide for even cooler note changes. It can do exaggerated glide when the knob is turned all the way. All Pitch CV outputs are linked to the Portamento.

These are the Outputs on the Left: (3) Pitch Outputs

Theses are the outputs on the Right: (3) GATE (5v) outs.

The knob is for Portamento.

A 12v AC power adapter is included.

-This has 3.5mm jacks. You can use those Headphone adapters to turn the end of a 3.5mm cable into 1/4" plug. That's how I do it and it works.

-This is calibrated for over 6 octaves of notes. This only does Note on/off and Pitch. Very simple yet very accurate. By default it is set to Midi Channel #1, it is possible to change the Midi channel by inserting a DIP Switch, i do not supply that, but the upgrade is very easy (no soldering).

Moog equipment owners be aware that you need to make an S-Trigger Cable for the gate on this to work for you. Here's a link for such a circuit

I can confirm this will work on all MFOS stuff, Roland SH101, BLACET, EURORACK stuff, and most Modern DIY stuff. Just check to see if you use the 1v/oct standard and this will work.
This will not work on korg MS series because that is based on 1v/Hz standard."
