Elektron Octatrack | BREAK the 16s recording LIMIT!

video upload by Mamotreco

"Do you have an OCTATRACK?

Have you been frustrated by the default 16 second record limit? What if I told you, you can bypass it with a couple of button presses?

Let me show you how you can get much more time!
First Press FUNCTION + MIXER to access the OCTATRACK Settings
Press the Down Arrow until you get to CONTROL

Right Arrow and then Down Arrow until you get to MEMORY
Hit the YES button to see the MEMORY Options
Down Arrow to select DYNAMIC RECORDERS

Press YES to change the settings value to YES
Then Press NO to validate (I know it’s strange)
You will get warning about playback stopping and any unsaved recordings in the buffers being lost

Press YES to validate
Press NO to exit the OCTATRACK settings
And when you check it out now by pressing FUNCTION + RECORD 1

The recorder screen now says 396 seconds which is about 6 and a half minutes in 16-Bit mode, if your recorders are set to 24-Bit you will have less time but still way more than the 16 seconds we started with.

Prophet 5, Prophet Rev2, Arturia MiniFreak Synth Sunset

video upload by Mamotreco

"Heroic synth melodies and dainty sequences provided by the Sequential Prophet 5, Prophet Rev2, and the Arturia MiniFreak synthesizers.
#analogsynth #prophet5 #minifreak

The arp bassline running through the track comes from the Arturia Minifreak. The Sequential Prophet 5 provided the lead melodies on this synthesizer track. The Sequential Prophet rev2 was used to add a complimentary expressive melody in final third of this track.

Gaze upon gritty vintage footage of London across the Thames as the synth music soars while aircraft land at London City Airport as the sun sets on the city. Thick puffs of smoke cross the screen adding further ambience.

We used Arturia synths to make a Tangerine Dream style track

video upload by Mamotreco

"This atmospheric synth soundtrack music was made with these Arturia V Collection 9 synths:
- Arturia Minifreak VST
- Arturia Pigments VST
- Arturia Mini V3 VST
- Arturia Emulator II V VST
- Arturia CZ V VST

Mamotreco - Edit4

video upload by Mamotreco

"This is a synth edit of a cheesy but vibey late 80s UK freestyle track. I kept the strongest vocal parts, added some backing vocals, and new synth layers. I also wrote an outro with a new bass line and processed different parts of the source material to add grit and interesting time-stretched juxtapositions. I went for a bit of a vaporwave approach when putting it all together.

This edit is available right here: https://mamotreco.bandcamp.com/album/..."

video upload by Mamotreco

"Find out how the Teenage Engineering OP-1 portable synth stacks up roughly a decade after I got it. While the compact design of the OP-1 as well as its distinct looks contribute to its lasting appeal, this video examines whether its a durable and useable synth and luggable music production tool.

Fujifilm XT4 Gritty Low Light Video in Classic Negative with vocoder retro synthpop music

video upload by Mamotreco

"Shot this with the Fujifilm X-T4 and the Fujinon 50mm f2 prime lens. I let the ISO run as high as it wanted to since I was shooting as we were driving around at night on the back roads of the Pacific Northwest suburbs. The IBIS is turned on since the lens has no OIS.
#fujifilm #lowlight #vocoder

The background music I wrote years ago on Fruity Loops 3 with the vocoder vocals coming in from the Microkorg synth. There might also be some Casio CZ5000 melodies in there.

You’ll notice that the footage is pretty jerky at moments but in a rather mechanical way. I believe that is due to the Fujifilm X-T4 IBIS which tends to be pretty rigid, which is great for static shots but not so much for dynamic movement situations.

The Classic Negative film simulation which I applied to the video is very pleasing in terms of mood and color look, in my opinion. This is one of the strengths of the Fujifilm system of cameras, being able to apply distinctive but versatile looks to both footage and photos.

One last word about the music, I wrote this track being inspired by both John Carpenter soundtracks and early Sierra point and click adventure backgrounds on the first outings of Police Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry.

Chillin' with synths (in this economy) | Octatrack & Analog Four

video upload by Mamotreco

"A rough weekend synth track made on the fly with the Elektron Octatrack sampler and Analog Four synth while vocals are processed by Ableton Vocoder. The Octatrack is sending sync and clock to the Analog Four. I'm muting and unmuting parts on the Analog Four to create the semblance of a musical arrangement.

The bumping beats of the Octatrack provide a foundation for the track. The Analog Four is using all four voices here for the different melodic layers that are being brought in and taken out based on how dense I want the synth arrangement to be.

Driving at night in the Pacific Northwest | Synth Wave & Psychogeography

video upload by Mamotreco

"Music for driving around late at night in the Pacific Northwest. Merging lanes through saturated tail light reds as the bright headlight halos pass you by. This is what this synth music and accompanying video is all about. This track 'Cybersyn - Centre Autoroutier' is part of an album called Intrigues Telematiques which is all about the melancholy feelings of forgotten technologies. Centre Autoroutier is French for a fancy rest stop. Rest stops in France were generally well maintained into the 90s and early 00s and featured functional but stylish architecture, well-appointed amenities, and even in modern sculpture works ... a sort of Eurotruck geographical vaporwave of late 20th Century nonplaces. This video however was shot in the Pacific Northwest which gives this track a different hauntological connotation due to the psycho-geography of that region of the United States.

GS e7 - Analog Poly Synth with Ladder Filter | Full Track

video upload by Mamotreco

"Music track made fully with the GS Music e7 polyphonic analog synthesizer from Argentina. All sounds apart from drums are made with the e7, multitracked in Ableton Live 11. I originally composed the song with a VST synth, but subsequently rerecorded all the midi tracks with the E7 from scratch.

I received the synth earlier this week and recorded the track fairly quickly - I've since had time to create nicer sounding patches which I look forward to using in future tracks.

#gsmusic #gse7 #synth

The GS Music e7 is a 7 voice analog polysynth with 2 VCOs and a ladder filter. It has a very analog sound despite being a modern and stable synth design.

Here's more info about the synth: https://www.gsmusic.com.ar/wordpress/...

Bask in the analog synth majesty of the Korg Trident Mk.1

video upload by Mamotreco

"As the sun rises over majestic hilltops and mountains, the nippy morning air is rich with the sound of musical tones. It's the harmonious melody of a Korg Trident synthesizer. The analog warmth reverberates through the images of valleys and mountains, perfectly complementing the stunning natural landscapes of the north east areas of Spain. #vintagesynths #korgtrident #80ssynth

The Korg Trident Mk.1 synthesizer is a wonderful analog polysynth, crafted in the 80s to produce a variety of rich sounds. Its three analog synth sections, each with its own distinct tone and controls, blend together to create powerful sounds that can evoke lush and complex sonic landscapes.

With images of nature appear on screen, the sound of the Korg Trident Mk.1 takes on a life of its own in relation to the beauty of the surroundings on display. The warm and inviting analog synth tones of the Korg Trident underline beauty of the surrounding images of wilderness beside it.

Terrassa is the city at the foot of these mountains with a population of 200,000 people, 12 miles away from Barcelona. Highlights of the city include:
- shopping mall 'Parc Vallès'
- people walking around
- olympic stadium with CaixaBank cashpoint not too far away
- parking space
- largely rocky mountain massif next to city, aka Sant Llorenç natural park
- lottery ticket booths
- some museums so you can learn more about the city

The Korg Trident Mk.1 is the synth for all seasons and settings. Its sound is equally at home in the shadow of chilly mountains as it is in the verdant fair-weather hills of spring and summer. No matter the time of year or location, the Korg Trident's analog warmth and organic sound complements your personal vision of nature.

Arturia Jun-6 V | 80s synth workhorse in VST form

video upload by Mamotreco

"The Arturia Jun-6V VST synth is modelled after the much beloved Roland Juno-6. It's straight-to-the-point synthesizer architecture and satisfying 80s polysynth goodness made the hardware original a studio workhorse across genres.
#arturia #jun-6v #juno6
And all that is before we get to its lush and quintessential chorus effect implementation. The Arturia Jun-6 V synth plugin has both some of the original presets from the hardware analog synthesizer as well as brand new sounds to round out its sound library. In this video, I play some of the sounds that struck a chord for me.

Jun-6V Synth Sounds Played:

How can the Octatrack and Analog Four Song Modes play together?

video upload by Mamotreco

"Find out how you can set the Elektron Octatrack and Analog Four to play together correctly when using the Arranger and Song Mode respectively on each Elektron machine.
#elektron #octatrack #analogfour

Contents:

00:00 Octatrack and Analog Four Together?
00:11 Elektron Octatrack Arranger
00:29 Elektron Analog Four Song Mode
00:43 OT vs A4 dilemma
01:06 The choice to get along
01:11 Octatrack leads Analog Four follows
01:30 OT and A4 synced but independent
02:12 Setting up Octatrack to be leader
02:58 Elektron Machines in sync but patterns independent
03:28 Questions about Elektron Song Mode "Crossplay"
04:10 Outro

Here's the full recap of the video in case anything is unclear when it comes to composing with the Elektron Octatrack and Analog Four together,

Both of these setups presume that the Octatrack and Analog Four are connected with a 5-Pin DIN MIDI cable: Going from the MIDI OUT of the Octatrack to the MIDI IN of the Analog Four.

You have two choices:
Option 1 - Octatrack is the leader and Analog Four follows
You must have Prog. Change enabled in the Project Settings of the Octatrack (Press Func. + Mixer to access).
This is a checkbox within the MIDI category (the last option in the pop up menu) in the Sync settings. You also need to set a MIDI channel number (that isn't being used for anything else) to transmit those program changes (aka. Pattern Changes) to the Analog Four. Use the arrows and the level knob to set that. Before moving to the Analog Four, check that TRANSP and CLOCK Send boxes are checked.
Over on the the Analog Four, press Function + Global (the last key in the mini keyboard on the unit) to access the synth's settings. Arrow down through the options until you reach the MIDI Config item. Hit "Yes".
Check the Sync Settings, Clock Receive and Transport Receive should both be checked.
Then Arrow down to the "Channels" menu item. Press "Yes". Arrow down to the 9th menu item "PROG CH IN CH" and make sure the channel number matches the sending channel from the Octatrack. Use Knob A to change, if necessary.
Ensure that Song Mode is not on for the Analog Four. Now the Analog Four will play whatever pattern the Octatrack is playing at the time.

Option 2 - There are no leaders Octatrack sets the tempo and play/stop.
To make this happen, follow the instructions above but you need to ensure that on the Octatrack PROG CH is unchecked or off. This is way it isn't sending marching orders to the Analog Four. Everything else should remain the same.

Sony RX100 VII Creative Zoom Examples

video upload by Mamotreco

"Trippy creative zoom articulations with the Sony RX100 VII. Combining a versatile zoom lens with SteadyShot stabilisation gets you some striking movement, closing in and peeling off your subject.

The music was done on a Prophet 12 synthesizer which sounds rather unique due to its combination of digital oscillators and analog filters.

Korg Trident Mk1 - 80s Synthe Action

video upload by Mamotreco

"Hear a quick snippet of the mighty Korg Trident Mk1 analog synth from 1980. This 8-voice analog polysynth is actually divided into three sections for different types of sound: Synthesizer, Brass, Strings.
#korg #korgtrident #analogsynth
This is the Mk1 version of the Korg Trident which means it has 16 presets and it lacks an envelope for the filter. However, what it lacks in memory and envelopes it makes up in quality effects. The flanger on this synth is out of this world. Not only that but you can use it once on any of the three sound design sections.

Anyways enjoy this quick taste of the Korg Trident!
