Multitouch Audio Table - AudioTouch OS - Long Version

YouTube via cerupcat. via sequencer.de
"AudioTouch is an interactive multi-touch interface for computer music exploration and collaboration. The interface features audio based applications that make use of multiple users and simultaneous touch inputs on a single multi-touch screen. A natural user interface where users can interact through gestures and movements, while directly manipulating musical objects, is a key aspect of the design; the goal is to be able to interact with the technology (specifically music based) in a natural way. Users can load, exit, and move musical applications using gestures as well as have a multiple applications operate within the same work environment. The design is built into a table that hides all the hardware necessary for tracking multiple inputs as well as displaying visual feedback on the touch surface."

Destination Space

via Dana Countryman

"Just a quick note to mention that my new CD with French synth pioneer (80 years old!) is out now on Oglio Records. It's called "Destination Space", and features 17 brand-new compositions. Out on Amazon and iTunes.

It's a Moog-filled potpourri of Spy Rock, Science-Fiction theme, Perrey's usual trademark fun songs, and even a little Spaghetti Western flavor on one tune! Lots of retro sounds, and JJ's amazing tape loops....

The final track "Beyond The Milky Way" features a computer-programmed singing voice -- singing the first lyrics EVER on a Jean-Jacques Perrey recording Ð this being his 22nd album in his long 50-year career. We're doing two RARE concerts, to debut the new CD:

Ring Mod Modular Patch to Celebrate a Better Camera

YouTube via dkimcg
"A patch heavy on ring modulation and an experiment in percussive synthesis.

Yes, it's a new camera. Three people had told me I should get a better camera, 3 is the magic number. So I got a slightly better camera, but still managed to avoid getting a full DVCAM.

I was so happy I made this ring mod patch."

Kamoni

First of all if you haven't seen Kamoni's videos yet, click here and scroll. You will find some of the most amazing live drumming with an Elektron Machinedrum, Monomachine and drumKat. It forces you to take a different perspective on the technique of playing a synth. Keyboards have dominated technique along with the modular interface of course. Kamoni explores the world of synths via drums. Really amazing stuff.

Kamoni wrote in to let us know that he has a new website at Kamoni.net which he plans to update with new and exciting stuff. Do check it out. If you have an RSS/Bog Reader like Bloglines, you can sub to the site and updates will come to you.

Halloween Theme Song on Synthesizer (Requested Video)

YouTube via Regency500
"This is a requested video from someone on YouTube who's name I still can't remember (I deleted the request from my inbox). But he asked me to play the Halloween Theme song on my Casio. He also wanted to know what model my pianos were. My main piano is a Yamaha YDP-121, which is the big piano that you can see in my other videos, and the Casio is a CTK-401 synthesizer keyboard. I don't like it very much because the keys stick and the speakers crack. So that's why I hooked it up to my Sony STR-AV460. I hope you enjoy the video!
NOTE: this video has some bass to it, you may want to turn down your speakers if they're small ones."

Baby Elephant Walk - Nord C1 (Clavia) Hammond B-3 clonewheel

YouTube via rounder2u
"Here is my version of 'Baby Elephant Walk'.
Henry Mancini wrote the soundtrack for the 1962 movie 'Hatari'. Hatari means 'danger' in Swahili. The movie itself didn't perhaps became an enormous hit, but one song in the soundtrack did very well!
Mancini wrote a brief piece of incidental music to go with a scene where a baby elephant is taken for a walk. The little song became an international hit as 'Baby Elephant Walk', and has been recorded by a large number of artists and in many different styles.
Congo, the baby elephant in the filming, died in November 2000 at the Dubbo Zoo in Australia.
----------
This is an easy-going song. For a bit of contrast I added some fire in the two solo choruses :-)
----------
The organ is a Clavia Nord C1 - a Hammond B-3 clonewheel organ.
----------
Nord C1 Registrations and Settings:
Upper 88 8000 000. No Chorus. Perc On, Soft, Fast, Third.
Lower 00 8700 000. No Chorus.
Bass lower man. Not used.
Leslie in slow position.
Equalizer not used.
Overdrive not used.
Reverb Hall, Soft, 50%.
Tonewheel mode Vintage 2 (high level of tonewheel crosstalk and cable leakage artefacts).
The sound is recorded line out from the organ. No additional external effects, external amplifiers or speakers are used."
