Apple Rejects SoundPrism with CoreMIDI support

Anyone know what's up with this? What makes this different than other apps with CoreMIDI support?

Update: I heard back from Audanika. You can find full details with updates on http://audanika.tumblr.com/ (for the archives: you can find the initial post here).

In short, and as I understand it, Apple does not allow you to charge for feature updates based on built-in iOS capabilities. Core MIDI support falls into this category. The only options you have are to offer the update for free, raise the price of the app for new users, or create a new app with the feature. It's a no win situation for developers like Audanika. Giving the feature away for free results in no compensation for the work done, charging more for the app may not compensate for the work and may turn potential new users off - some new users may not want the feature. Creating a separate app for users to chose, results in current owners being left out. The best option which Audanika would like is to simply have the update be available as an in App purchase. No go due to Apples rules.

via Audanika:
"We tried to sell MIDI support as part of an InApp Purchase which apparently nobody before us has tried before. It got rejected because Apple told us we're only giving people access to capabilities of iOS throught hat purchase...

Of course we could raise the price but it would be a very bad solution because we'd be raising the price of our app because of a feature used by maybe 10% of our users. A lot less people would buy SoundPrism and I honestly doubt that this would offset the gains through the higher price."

Update:

Apple Approves SoundPrism Pro

You might remember from this post, Apple originally rejected SoundPrism Pro.

"Dimitry finds out that SoundPrism Pro with Core MIDI support was finally approved by Apple."
