Studio and Modular P*rn Fest

No title link; all links below. People are posting their modular and studio shots on AH. Definitely drool worthy. I'll add to the list as they come in so be sure to check back. Below is a fantastic shot of the Waldorf Wave by Rikard. Make sure to check out this specific shot of the back of the Wave next. I didn't realize how thin their control panels were. Amazing.

"the rack is a Middle Atlantic RL10-38 with accompanying cantilever
base extension and i can't recommend it enough. it solved all my
ergonomic issues and is damn stable and quality to boot (and there's
about 8U left over!). i got mine from Sacramento Audio Supplies and
the combo was $180 plus tax & ship. after selling all the puny little
racks it replaced, i should come out ahead!"

AH Bay Area Gathering 2006 Gathers $565 for the Moog Foundation

Brian Comnes, host of this year's AHBA set up a raffle for the gathering in which proceeds would go the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation for Electronic Music. They raised $565. Pretty cool.

"Here's the list of goodies some lucky folks walked away with yesterday. Not bad for a $5 ticket
** Korg Mono/Poly in a flight case (donated by Nick Peck)
** Metasonix TM-6 tube filter (from Eric Barbour of Metasonix)
** $100 gift certificate to Analogue Haven (from Shawn Cleary and Chuck Oken, owners of the store)
** Moog DVD from Moog Foundation
** Several Moog Hats from Moog Foundation and RobotSpeak (Steve Taormina and Alan Stewart, owners of the store)
** Hooded sweatshirt from Livewire Electronics (from Mike Brown of Livewire)
** Moog Tshirts from Moog Foundation and RobotSpeak
** Studio Electronics T shirts from Robot Speak

Please go to www.moogfoundation.org. You can find out about the group's work. You can also contribute online. Their goal is to get to $5mm and to date they only have $30k, plus our $565, so they have a ways to go and could definitely use help from the synth enthusiast community.

The goal of this Foundation honoring this unique and special (Bob Moog) is to foster innovation and curiosity in electronic music.

In my humble opinion, I think the AH local groups should adopt the Bob Moog Foundation for at least all of 2007 and maybe in perpetuity if all goes well.....and beside a raffle adds an element of excitement, tension and anxiety to an otherwise blissful day ...and if they can't get any prizes they can just set out a coffee can and collect.

Peace
Brian"

Great idea Brian.
If you haven't checked out the Bob Moog Memorial Foundation for Electronic Music, please do.

Update: Brian suggested I put up a permanent link to The Moog Foundation. Great idea. I'll be adding the below image shortly.

AH Bay Area Gathering 2006

One week to go folks. If you are in the area, check this out:

"In addition to the usual Bay Area synth head suspects our confirmed special guests are David Smith (DSI) , Eric Barbour (Metasonix), Peter Grenader of Plan B, Robotspeak of SF, and Barbara Golden (local electronic music radio host). Other local luminaries ave been invited and may bless us with their presence

We are also having a raffle to benefit the Moog Foundation. Michelle Moog-Koussa (Bob Moog's daughter) is the exec director of the foundation and she is providing some Moog promo goodies for the raffle."

Wish I could be going to that, but times are tight, the budget is locked, and my wife and kid would kill me. : ) But don't worry, there will be plenty of shots I'm sure. Brian Comnes, who contributes a bit to this site, will be attending and taking shots. It's worth noting he is the man behind this year's event.

AH Bay Area 2008 official date

Saturday, October 25th 2008 at the TechShop in Menlo Park, be there or
be square.

We'd like to have a Moog Foundation raffle as we have for the last few
years, so if anyone wants to step up and handle the
tickets/collection/etc for that, please contact me.

Actually, if you're planning on going, I'd like it if you signed up
for the AHCali list (link in url above) and RSVPed there, so we have
some idea the size of the crowd we'll have.

BTW, you will notice the event referenced with PNW abbreviated and spelled out, the word meeting vs gathering, and so on. Same for the AH Bay Area event. I've created labels for each, PNW2008 and AHBA2008, so just click on them to see all posts for the events. The events label will bring up all event posts.

Pictured here: the group and some scrumptious cookies from Carbon111's wife, Laura. Thanks Laura! It was a fun event this year.
