32 MidiBox SID vs MonoMachine

YouTube via 7thDanSound | December 20, 2010 |

"This video is in response to a request from user SH4RCR4SH in the comments of this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPu1Na... [posted here]

It's a comparison between some basic sounds from the MidiBox SID and the SID machine in the Elektron MonoMachine. I'd say they compare fairly well!

Longer version of the song at the end available here:

"This is a tune I've had in the MonoMachine for quite a while. Did a quick recording of it to accompany my MidiBox SID vs MonoMachine comparison video on YouTube. I will have to rework this piece before it can be properly released."

34 Buchla Style Lopass Gate

YouTube via 7thDanSound | December 30, 2010 |

"This video is an attempt to achieve the effect of the Buchla Lopass Gate. It uses a lowpass filter and a VCA in order to test the theory. The Lopass Gate is known for its natural and smooth sound. The real ones are vactrol based however so no patch like this will be exact.

Artsy video of the resulting "song" here:

Lopass Gate Impersonation and Arpeggio Chords from 7thDanSound on Vimeo.

"A short tune I made using my derived chords trick and an impersonation patch of the Buchla Lopass Gate. I think it sounds quite nice. Hope you do too!

I've been intrigued by the Buchla system ever since I first saw pictures of them. Not until several years later did I get to play one. It was the old 200 at EMS studio in Stockholm Sweden. Then the new Buchla 200e series were released and a friend got a few modules. I realized I had to have some. But, as usual, things came in between. Now finally, I'm starting my Buchla journey with a very small order. This video is to celebrate!"

23 Cyndustries Sawtooth Animator With Other Inputs

YouTube via 7thDanSound | November 24, 2010 |

"This is a demo of how the Sawtooth Animator sounds when fed somewhat unusual inputs. It works surprisingly well with triangle and sine wave forms but I also try noise, dual oscillators, drums and chords from an Elektron MonoMachine"

24 Cyndustries Sawtooth Animator LFOs

7thDanSound | November 24, 2010 |

"This video is a showcase of the Cyndustries Sawtooth Animator module using the LFO outputs. It has six of them and they are derived from what ever you put into the module. The speed of the LFOs vary with the input and if there is no input at all the LFOs stop so they can sort of be used as a crude sample and hold"

25 Synthesizers.com Oscillator Sync Behavior

7thDanSound | November 24, 2010 |

"This video shows how the Synthesizers.com Q106 oscillators behaves when synced to another oscillator. I have the oscillator aid module too and use its soft sync input to show how that works. I finish off by showing how voltage controlled sync works."

63 Buchla + MonoMachine = Sweet

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Apr 15, 2011
I spy a MATRIXSYNTH magnet at the start. :)
"Controlling and processing the Buchla through my Elektron MonoMachine proved to be totally lovely! This is something I'll spend a lot of time doing in the future. The rhythm based delay and reverb inside the MM and the very dynamic timbres of the Buchla match very nicely.

Buchla 259e Follow Up

YouTube via 7thDanSound | February 23, 2011 |

"This video is a bonus episode and follow up to a previous video. I was asked if the 259e was good at doing bass and got a few pointers from boobtube356 http://www.youtube.com/user/boobtube356 Great many thanks for that! This is very subtle and takes a lot of exploration to get the best out of. I suppose I'm just barely scratching the surface here.

Also, I found the top three wavetables to contain mostly noise but actually they don't. The FM index knobs scan some other memory area and creates interesting sounds. I had no idea!"

52 Modular Synth Vowel Sounds

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Mar 7, 2011

"I like vowel sounds, I think that's clear by now for anyone who's followed my videos. The MiniMoog vowel patch was the first demo video I did. On forums and here on YouTube I've seen a few vowel patches and thought I'd try one out. Had to tweak it a little more than I expected to and didn't quite end up where I had hoped but it was an interesting experiment.

And although not extremely vocal like I find the resulting sound very pleasing."

71 Buchla Pan and Morph

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on May 19, 2011

"I'm starting out trying automated panning with the 292e and then I go on to more droning territory. I'm finding new and interesting sounds as I go along. It's incredible how deep and powerful this very small system is. And I'm not even using all of it!"

41 Dual FSR Controlling Modular and Moog Delay

YouTube via 7thDanSound | January 25, 2011 |

"This is a showcase of the dude Dual FSR as I use it to control my synthesizers.com modular and MoogerFooger delay pedal. It's quite the performance device and if you want one, go buy it from youtube.com/user/dudeohyeahable he really delivers!"

28 Steep Decline (72dB Lopass)

YouTube via 7thDanSound | December 06, 2010 | 1 likes, 0 dislikes

"In this video I patch up all the filters I have in series to get the steepest slope low pass filter possible, 72dB! It gets pretty meaty already at 36dB but 72 sound like it could kill people! The filters are two synthesizers.com Q107 (gotta lov'em), an STG Soundlabs Post Lawsuit Lopass Filter and an STG Soundlabs Mankato.

6 minute audio jam available at:"

72dB Jam by 7thDanSound
"I patched together all the filters I have in my modular to one meaty big 72dB slope mother of a low pass filter! I bet you could kill people with the bass from this patch. This recording is a few minutes of playing around with the patch, changing the cutoff (of all filters at once) and modulating the cutoff with an LFO and an envelope. I also raise the resonance of the individual filters here and there.

I tried feeding back the output of the patch back into itself to get resonance through the whole chain but to no avail... Any one know what I did wrong?"

31 Pulse Multiply and Divide

YouTube via 7thDanSound | December 16, 2010 | 2 likes, 0 dislikes

"This video is in response to dudeohyeahables video on pulse multiplying and dividing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6hszo... [modcan b scanner as pulse mult/divide here]

In the patch I use a sample and hold module and a switch to create a pulse wave one octave below the fundamental and the rectifier to create a triangle and then pulse wave one octave above the fundamental. There's also voice overs this time. Tell me if you like or don't like them niklas@7thdan.com"

Buchla Multitrack

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Aug 15, 2011

"Testing multitracking of the Buchla for the first time. A lot of fun but maybe a little rough around the edges, some harsh sounds here and there. But boy does the layering add to the depth of this thing!

Haunted Buchla and Moog Phaser

Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Jan 8, 2012

"Doing the Buchla+Moog phaser thing again and ended up with something that sounded haunted and eerie. I like this kind of thing a lot. It's amazing how hypnotizing these patches get. Note that the 261e mod oscillator is the source of sound here."

61 Buchla 292e Self Oscillating Patch

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Apr 11, 2011

"I learnt from user boobtube356 that the Buchla 292e could be made to self oscillate. This may be useful to create another voice or simply to create another kind of sound. So as I just got my 292e I decided to try it."

Visit to EMS

YouTube Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 3, 2011

"I visited EMS Stockholm to upgrade my Buchla a little. I traded my 12-wls cabinet for a 15-wls, got a 222e Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic Input Port and traded my 206e for a 225e as I'm getting a 227e anyway.

EMS has a very nice vintage Buchla 200 system with some cool modules in it. I thought I'd patch it a little for fun. This is no serious patch really though due to lack of time. Of note is three very nice 259's and Mark Verbos' Time Domain Processor which is supposed to be an old Don Buchla design revamped more or less. Oh and two 296! That is one cool module. The patch has three parts, one drone kind of thing, some chirps and in the end a sort of cricket like noise which I personally liked best.

Throughout the video I've inserted pictures of the systems involved in the trade. We moved modules between the cabinets and had a really good time!

94 222e Tests

Uploaded by 7thDanSound on Nov 3, 2011

"So my Buchla now has a Multi-Dimensional Kinesthetic Input Port. Say that 6 times in a row real quick! That thing is just awesome with all it's programmability. I just wish it was a bit more responsive but I guess that's something I need to practice and learn instead.

This is my very first test with the thing so it's very basic and not really a demo, just playing some notes. Using it to control both my waveform generators pitch and timbre and some other things. I'm thinking I'll have a lot of fun with this!"
