Appliancide

via Appliancide

"I just put up a new track on my myspace page. It's one pass on my 2 suitcase eurorack modular. No external sequencing or sounds. I just made the track stereo and added a little compression in an audio editor. It's the first track on my page (myspace.com/appliancide) very aptly named '2 minutes too long'."

Two More Modular Noodles via Appliancide

Click here for the link to them. Spot the cat.

"They are single pass recordings with all of the same limitations as the previous two tracks. They are called "how rude" and "falling up the stairs". Falling up the stairs is my favorite so far of the modular recordings that I've done.I also put up a couple of catsynth pictures there. I moved the other two modular tracks to soundclick but if anyone wants to hear them, they can listen to them directly from my blog at http://appliancide.blogspot.com. There you will find links to all of my modular noodles as well as a bunch of my old music, which is mostly soft-synth and sample based.

Appliancide - please don’t (rough song sketch) for whom the camera shakes

video upload by Appliancide

"Transcribed a few beats from fl studio into the Stoplerbeats text file. Patched this up to check one of them out. Ended up cooking up a patch worth letting simmer for a few days. Needs a little seasoning, but the flavor profile is there. Is that a hint of saffron you detect? No, it's reverb.

Suggested listening wardrobe: saturated earth tones"

demo track featuring:
"the Banalogue VCS being used as a filter. It's most apparent after the break. The "break" was me unplugging the mixer (Doepfer A-135 VCMIX) that had the drum sounds and the VCS running into it, flipping the cycle switch on the VCS, turning the cv on the VCS' mixer channel down, turning the gain up and plugging the mixer back in."

via Appliancide where you'll find additional shots and details.

"Like most modular synthesizer users and builders, I suffer from Serge envy. Thankfully for all of us, Ken Stone licensed some of Serge's designs to sell as CGS PCBs.

Here is my first module using these Serge designs"

Tech, No Enfermo & Filter Spank

Published on Jul 14, 2014 paulstodawall

"This recording was made using one each of the first two Ian Fritz 4U modular synthesizer panels. These panels are 100% Serge-compatible, but make a great little system on their own!

Other than some minimal EQ and level adjustments, this was recorded with no external effects or controllers.

I don't often take good patch notes, but I will try to briefly describe the basic patch idea. I like trying to make groove-based multitimbral tracks using smaller modulars, so that was the idea with this recording.

I am using the ChaQuO as the master clock in this patch. Since there are comparator inputs on the 4x4 and All-In envelope generators and the TGTSH S&H modules, the smooth, wiggly chaos outputs can be used for timing purposes.

The two drum sounds are the Teezer VCOs. Both are fairly simple pretty drum patches. The bass drum is the raw sine output, while the triangle output of the other Teezer is being processed by the Wavolver II waveshaper for the second percussion sound.

The bass line is the DoubleDeka graphic VCO being run through the Teezer VCF.

I may have been using the Chaotica for audio-rate modulation at some point as well.

There is a lot of flexibility using this two panels system!

Dueling Retake - Appliancide

Remember Applieancide? Click here for another track featuring his 2 suitcase eurorack modular.
"This one is two passes of the same patch being tweaked as it plays. One pass is panned left and the other right. I didn't set out to do this. I justed wanted to see if I could get a better take and as I was comparing the two (the first one was better of course) I decided that I liked the way they sounded together. Other than EQ and compression, no effects were used/added."

Concertina

Concertina from Claudia González Godoy on Vimeo.

IMJS - New Modular Track via Appliancide

"I posted another track made with just my modular and the 101 on my myspace page. The percussion sound that starts the track is the 101. All of the timing events are divided down from the gate out of the 101. This track should be listened to loud though speakers that can handle some bass. I also embedded a soundclick widget on my myspace page that has some older tracks I've done for the handful of people that enjoy my music."

Moistish - Ian Fritz Based Serge Panel

Published on Jan 28, 2014

"Playing around with Ian Fritz prototype panel #2. Crap audio because I can't find the ac adaptor for my digital recorder, which is also my mixer. The only effect is the reverb of our living room combined with sounds of midday traffic. Enjoy this with a good stout."

One Day Left on Group Buy for Ian Fritz 4U Panels and New PCBs - Walls of Voodoo!

via Paul Appliancide on The MATRIXSYNTH Lounge, via Uglysound Electronics

"One more day left on the group buy for Ian Fritz 4U panels and new PCBs. New PCBs are dual 2 Quadrant/4 Quadrant multiplier (switchable between VCA & ring mod), 4U/5U friendly LED slider board for the DoubleDeka graphic VCO, 4U/5U friendly versions of Chaotica, 4x4 and Wavolver II PCBs!"  On Muff's here.

And a Wall of Voodoo video below for these "walls of Fritz voodoo", also from Paul in the same Lounge post. Confused me too. Even more confusing is the Roland V-Synth at 1:24! They were ahead of their time. Minimoog and Prophet-5 as well.

The Trollogy: A Tale in Several Parts

via appliancide:
"These tracks should be listened to loud in a dark room. Parts 1 and 2 are just modular synth being tweaked as it plays with no overdubs. Part 3 is a mix of some old unfinished stuff remixed for the Trollogy concept. The creepy main hook was done with an old version of Reaktor and rest is manipulated samples."

You can find some shots of the modular in previous posts.
