Roland Jupiter 6 Analog Synthesizer with Europa

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Europa Operating System allowing easy Digital Audio Workstation integration can send and receive midi CC commands, from front panel sliders/knobs.
Control your DAW via the Jupiter front panel, great for live work.

The Synthcom Systems Europa Firmware V 1.0 adds the following features upgrades:
Summarized feature list:
Additional arpeggiator modes
In addition to regular Roland Jupiter 6 arpeggiator operation, Europa adds many new arpeggiator modes, some exclusive to Europa!

Additional arpeggiator synchronization sources
The arpeggiator can now be synchronized from external clock trigger, MIDI clock or the improved internal clock. Europa's internal clock is extremely steady and can now be used to trigger and clock external MIDI equipment.

Send and receive MIDI continuous controllers
Almost all (excluding master volume and bender board controls) sliders, knobs, and soft switches have the ability to be changed via standard MIDI continuous controllers. This is great for modifying board parameters in real time.

Send and receive presets/patches via MIDI
One of Europa's primary new functions! Europa includes the ability to save and load patches/presets via MIDI. Never use that unreliable tape interface again! Trade patches with other Europa upgraded Jupiter 6 owners!

Europa firmware updates via MIDI
The Europa operating system can be updated by way of the MIDI interface from any Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh based personal computers. No need to open the board! Source code for the update utility is available so it may be ported to any platform.

Patches/presets stored in flash
Europa stores all patches and presets in its onboard flash. This means no more lost patches or presets when the controller board battery goes bad!

Additional voice assignment modes
Europa includes 4 additional voice assignment modes over the factory Roland code.

Board state retention
Europa remembers the state of all of the Jupiter 6's settings even after power down. If you're in the middle of editing a patch and you power down, the board will be in the same state when it was powered off! This, of course, is only possible if the memory protect switch is not on, as the board's current settings are stored in the onboard controller's NVRAM.

Analogue Solutions Europa & Telemark - Pattern Creation w/ Depeche Mode Samples

YouTube via rezfilter | October 11, 2010

"Here's a video demonstrating the Analogue Solutions Europa hardware MIDI sequencer [www.analoguesolutions.com] in action, re-creating a classic beat (Depeche Mode's People are People).

The beat was created using Europa's Internal mode (not synced to MIDI clock or using outside sequencers). An Ensoniq ASR-10 was providing the drum samples in this case.

The Europa was also used to sequence the AS Telemark synthesizer at the end of the video and uses the Europa's velocity controls (per step key) to control the Telemark's filter (velocity to filter).

At the end of the vid, Europa is put into External clock mode and synced to MIDI clock (DAW sequencer). At this point, Europa will start/stop when the computer sequencer starts/stops. Europa also is sending sync to the AS Oberkorn MK3 sequencer, which is controlling the SE ObieRack.

Enjoy."

AS Europa Sequencer Tutorial #01 - Europa and TBX-303

YouTube via rezfilter | October 03, 2010

"Europa & TBX-303 - a complementary pair.

This video is a basic overview of the Analogue Solutions Europa MIDI sequencer / drum computer [www.analoguesolutions.com].

In the video, we see how to construct a basic pattern (drum beat) using the internal sequencer. The Europa is connected to both an Ensoniq ASR-10 (drum sample source) as well as an AS TBX-303 (synth).

The video also demonstrates the live transpose, and mute features of the Europa while a sequence is running. Additionally, at the end of the video, the AS Oberkorn MK3 is plugged in and synced to the Europa's clock - the Oberkorn controls a sequence on a Sequential Circuits Pro One synth."

Roland Jupiter 6 with Europa Mod

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"BIG FAT POLYSYNTH in virtually factory fresh condition.

After looking at several JP6s I bought this from Tonetweakers in the US five years ago, they said it was by far the nicest Jupiter 6 they had ever seen.

COSMETICS - Mint, really almost as it left the factory in 1983. There is a teeny tiny hairline scratch top left of the control panel running through the a of the Roland logo, anything else you see in the pictures is just dust or fingerprints! It really belongs in a museum, except then it would never get used, which would be a tragedy.

All knobs and buttons and LEDs are present/working and none have faded or gone yellow with age. The keyboard is springy, even and white. Even the performance section, which usually takes a bashing is unmarked, as is the back. It must have spent most of its life in a box to have survived so well, it's certainly never been gigged or left open to the air and sunlight in a smoky studio.

FUNCTION - Everything works perfectly, big fat analogue badness. In Unison mode it sounds like an OBX-a and even in standard poly it sounds amazing. It's capable of an enormous range of sounds from huge pads and crisp strings to quirky Moog-y filter bloops.

This example has the desirable EUROPA upgrade from SynthCom in V2.0 guise which not only upgrades the MIDI to embrace modern features but also upgrades the arpeggiator to include various modes including random (as in the JP4 on Rio). It also adds patch saving/loading via MIDI (making the dreaded tape dump obsolete), factory patch setting restoration and even a small sequencer - read more on their site - http://www.synthcom.com/Europa/europaFaq.html

Basically the Europa means you can really use this board as part of a modern studio setup and best of all it adds PATCH LAYERING! You can now layer the upper keyboard patch on top of the lower patch and control it with the BALANCE knob. This adds a wealth of sounds the standard JP6 can't get close to and really bites at the ankles of the Jupiter 8!!

Andy Collins (Gary Numan's synth man in Sussex) replaced a capacitor on the two-voice board for me last year, since when it's sounded and performed impeccably.

It comes with a dust cover, a Jupiter 6 manual (not original), a Europa manual and a power lead. It's switched to accept UK voltage but can be switched to US..."

Roland Jupiter 6 With Europa Mod Ver2

via this auction

"This Europa Jupiter-6 is running the newest version of Europa (v2) that includes a random patch generator and a multivariable arpeggiator. If you are in any way familiar with the Jupiter-6, the Europa Jupiter-6 will come as a blast of fresh oxygenated air. This machine may now serve as the beating heart of a seriously professional synth studio. All sliders now send midi and the arpeggiator sends, receives and will now sync to midi. There are more options for sound creation as one now has the ability to turn on and off all waveforms individually. The random patch generator is really something. Beatkamp will not be responsible for any drool that may run down your chin whilst operating this legendary monster synth. Read about the Europa upgrade at synthcom.com."

Analogue Solutions Quick Tip #01 - Utilise Europa's Legato to Activate TBX-303 SLIDE!

YouTube via rezfilter | December 14, 2010 | 0 likes, 0 dislikes

"HOW TO: Use the Europa's Legato feature to cause notes to slide (or overlap each other) on the TBX-303 (TB-303 clone). [www.analoguesolutions.com]

Here's a Quick Tip on how to enter Legato Mode on the Europa Midi Step Sequencer and apply slide to some of the steps, resulting in an authentic 303 slide effect.

Europa's Legato Mode slightly overlaps the notes. This ordinarily won't do much on any non-AS synth. When the TBX sees overlapped notes, it activates slides resulting in the movement you hear in the video."

Roland Jupiter 6 61-Key Synthesizer with Europa Mod

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Roland Jupiter 6 with Europa mod. Plays excellent. Listed as very good, as it has a soldering iron ding on one of the rightmost black keys as visible in the pictures.

The Jupiter-6 is an incredible analog synth. All of the Jupiters have a sound that was unlike any other synthesizer and the Jup 6 is no exception. This sound is due in part to classic analog Roland technology in its filters, modulation capabilities and a thick cluster of 12 analog oscillators at 2 per voice. Easy and intuitive programming via front panel sliders, knobs and buttons for all your tweaking needs.

Europa firmware upgrade for the Jupiter-6 which gives it an up-to-date and comprehensive MIDI implementation. All parameters are controllable via Continuous Controller or SysEx. Europa also features an extensive arpeggiator which will sync to MIDI clock with programmable clock divisors and rhythms, and has about 50 more playback variations than the JP-6's original Up, Down, Up/Down, and Down/Up. A Europacized Jupiter-6 is a thoroughly modern synth with a classic sound."

Interfacing Roland SH-101 with Analogue Solutions Europa Sequencer

Published on Oct 5, 2013 zibbybone·127 videos

"One of my subscribers needed help interfacing his SH-101 with the Europa sequencer. In this video, I demonstrate clocking the SH-101's arpeggiator and internal sequencer to the Europa using one of its 7 drum triggers. In this instance, I used trigger "B" since it did not have a drum assigned to the MIDI note number on the Roland R-8M. First, I program a steady stream of eighth notes and then sixteenth notes. I also experiment with dropping various steps to create a pattern. The simple bass line used in this video is from a Novation BassStation rack synth. I added some delay to the 101 with the Lexicon MX400.

Next, I hook up a Roland MPU-101 MIDI to CV converter box to control the SH-101 from the Europa sequencer."
