Korg Micro X part 2
YouTube via kennykeyboard — April 22, 2010 — "a bit more variety in timbres with the petite digital synth. Tweaking the knobs produced some pleasant results at times. A phat saw bass gives way to a grunge solo and then strings gone flaky and on to totally outer space. The cat wants in on the electric piano setting"
Prophet 8 and Little Phatty
kennykeyboard — April 22, 2010 — "more noodling around with both analog synths. A whistly lead sound is used for that cell phone tune and then I grind up some Moog Bass. The prophet has a squeaky mono sound and then some of the usual strings and brass pads. The cat listens in on the outdoors segment."

Vintage Synthesizer
YouTube via kennykeyboard
"Polymoogs were looked down upon since the Minimoog was so well received that the polyphonic machine to bear the Moog name wasn't up to the hype. It did have an aural edge over the other string synths that had similar technology. Mine like most was broken in some way. Here I do some sloppy improv and holiday tunes."

"Similar to the other video of the same synth except this time from atop. THis has been dubbed from an 8mm tape done in December 1998. Christmas tune"

Korg Lambda Presets and combos
YouTube Uploaded by kennykeyboard on Apr 1, 2012
"Showing some preset tabs and knobs of Korg Lambda. Instrument has two sections Percussive and Ensemble with separate volume and tone color. There is a key click for the electric piano and a brass voice filter cutoff. Brass does has a filter envelope. While the Lambda isn't up to the PS series of synths it does use 3 master oscillators and a chorus circuit. With some ingenuity fuller sounds can be created beyond the thin pulse waves of the dividers. Although an Oberheim SEM is shown, it isn't routed in this video. Also, the wind affects the audio at times."
Korg Lambda with SEM filter
Uploaded by kennykeyboard on Apr 1, 2012
"Korg Lambda ES-50 is routed through Tom Oberheim SEM. Using the SEM's lfo and manual knob turns variety is acheived. The wind messed up some of the audio. Birds chirping was a plus. The outdoors may have added naural reverb. Last section of video has camcorder pointed at moon while I play mood music with same keyboard and module."

Moog Little Phatty and Tom Oberheim MidiSEM
YouTube Uploaded by kennykeyboard on Oct 25, 2011
"Both analog synths making serious noises. Included are the usual filter sweeps and detuning oscillators. Some of my usual riffs dot the landscape. Most is just ambient knob turns. I couldn't get them to take turns with polyphony. The Little Phatty has a provision for adding extra voices in a midi chain. The SEM just has low, high, and last note."

Digital Synthesizers-Trinity Plugiator TG33 TX802
YouTube via kennykeyboard. Use Audio Plugiator comes in at 1:27.
"Assorted riffs and improvs surrounding various sounds including lush pads, comps, layers, and freaky virtual analog sync and filter sweeps. The Roland keytar is used for the last comp."

Plugiator Demo 2- Prodyssey and B4000
YouTube via kennykeyboard | June 30, 2010
"The virtual analog synthesizer is largely preset in live use but quite programmable with the computer thanks to familiar GUI. I just play sounds from the ARP Odyssey model and a smaller riff from the tonewheel organ model. My cat sits on the patio table listening, purring, and sometimes getting in the way."

Oberheim Midi SEM analog synthesizer
YouTube via kennykeyboard — June 20, 2010 — "I reposted this due to user comment. New Oberheim synth is a remake of the old SEM with the only upgrade being the Midi converter. It has the usual 2 oscillators, multimode filter, LFO, and two ADS envelopes. I twist dials and push buttons on the monosynth."

Oberheim Midi SEM analog synthesizer module v2
YouTube via kennykeyboard — June 22, 2010 — "a second, unique video of my Midi SEM [first one here]. Here I play something a little more musical. The synth is monphonic like the MoPho from Dave Smith. Tom O designed it to be almost identical to the version he had in the 1970's. There are two versions of the modern incarnation, a patchpoint module with lots of 3.5 cm jacks (eighth inch) for interfacing with analog modular equipment, and this version which allows use with computers and other midi equipped devices more readily. One note, the image of Tom Oberheim with his boxes is from AudioMidi's website. They handle the retail distribution of new SEMs in the US."

Korg Lambda and Prophet 08
YouTube via kennykeyboard
"The same rhythmic tune is played on both instruments pretty much to demonstrate contrast between a 1979 poly ensemble and a modern analog synth. My neighbors in the early 80's had a reggae band, so I came up with this riff which may or may not be stylistically correct."
Korg Lambda strings organ sounds
"Auditioning of various sounds on this 1979 offering from Korg. The strings had variable attack. The organ was pretty much as you get it. Ensemble, shelving filter, and tone tabs help define the variations possible. It works best for pads and some soloing in this mode."

Plugiator Minimax and Voctor
YouTube via kennykeyboard — June 16, 2010 —
"The recent virtual analog synth employs 4 different software emulations derived from Creamware and some original designs. It is similar to the Arturia Origin except less featured. It is best suited to studio work in terms of making use of its resources, although live performance is doable with modest planning. Tweaking is limited to filter fy, res, and env amount. Delay and chorus are also on knobs. The knobs have a smooth resolution."

Use Audio Plugiator Lightwave model
YouTube via kennykeyboard | December 23, 2010 |
"Preceded by a child's toy on the video, the Use Audio Plugiator has a model reminiscent of the the Prophet VS or PPG. Outside of cyclical rhythm sounds, it has an ambience with the delay and chorus. Here, I have an almost metal percussive tone with higher artifacts, a gothic organ sound, and assorted wavetable sweeps creating tempos. Somewhere, my controller was sending unwanted mod messages. I put some video effects just to add interest. Just imagine playing solemn carols with the Meowsic."

Korg Lambda Choir
YouTube via kennykeyboard — April 14, 2010 — "This video is by request. It consists of the choir preset on the Korg Lambda ES 50. I played a little ditty then some slow chords. The ensemble effect was engaged, as was the octave switch and the detuning of the 3 oscillator ranks. There are a set of pots for attack and release and a slider to control the brilliance of the sustaining voices. My impression of the Lambda choir is that it sounds like a mufled string synth. The amp in use was an Alesis Transactive. This is a big video file. I'm not sure of the flash conversion."

Korg Lambda baroque style
YouTube via kennykeyboard
"Just like something your piano teacher would have you play, this piece was created by me with heavy influences by Bach and Mozart some 25 years ago. Never mind the bobbles. My teacher always told me to keep playing."

Arturia ARP 2600V
YouTube via kennykeyboard | August 16, 2010
"Experimenting with various power pads and filter settings on the softsynth with an ARP 2600 GUI. The software also has a chorus and delay section. I used a midi keyboard to play. It is possible to play using the mouse on the GUI keyboard. When controlled by a midi keyboard, the graphic shows depressed keys much like a player piano. The Arturia product includes the ARP 2600 in 3 faces, a 1601 Sequencer, and a 3640 keyboard graphic. I found the sound quality quite good even with the basic speakers. Latency is noticeable with the stand alone version"

Roland SH-01 Gaia synthesizer

"Popular inexpensive Roland synthesizer is easy to program with plenty of knobs and sliders. Here are 7 presets I made. I probably should have disabled the velocity on the funk bass sound."

Roland Gaia percussive sounds demo
YouTube Uploaded by kennykeyboard on Mar 20, 2011
"Various sounds with a bite. Small Roland keyboard can produce usable comp and rhythmic tones. Here are some of mine a bit unrefined. Intersperced with photos of orchids mostly."

Vintage Synthesizer Minimoog
YouTube via kennykeyboard
"Imagine "We wish you a Merry Christmas" only repeated with increasingly horrid detuned triads. I played with the tuning of the oscillators. Later I play some riffs with mod wheel punctuation and filter sweep. A bit of 'Are you weepin' in there."

Korg Lambda brass and EP strings
YouTube via kennykeyboard
"The Lambda brass setting by itself uses 2 oscillators which can be detuned. It shares one filter envelope which is more noticeable with staccato playing. The EP strings is nicer since it allows a slow attack for the strings part. The person mentioned at the end has a music theory book with which she will slap me for not resolving my harmonies."
