LZX Visionary Video Synthesizer - Audio Colorizer Demo

YouTube via lzxindustries — June 12, 2010 —

"In this patch an external security camera is recolorized using the Triple Video Fader & Key Generator (TVF) and Video Blending Matrix (VBM) modules. Two Video Waveform Generators (VWG) and a low-frequency signal from Doepfer A-143-1 serve as additional signal and modulation sources, while an external audio signal modulates the Sine Shape of one of the VWGs. One of the TVF's key output also frequency modulates the VWG. Intermittent grainy textures are due to the inferior camera source and unsync'ed VWG modulating the keyers. Manual tweaking throughout. LZX Visionary Demonstration - Hard Key Colorizer Patch

"lzxindustries — June 06, 2010 — This example demonstrates a classic colorizer patch with the LZX Visionary modular video synthesizer. Modules used include Video Sync Generator (VSG), Color Video Encoder (CVE), Triple Video Fader & Key Generator (TVF) and Video Blending Matrix (VBM). The TVF key inputs are fed external video from the Y output of the VSG, which is in turn locked to the output of a DVD player. The three key outputs of the TVF are then fed to the top inputs of the VBM columns A, B & C. The sum outputs of the VBM are then fed into the CVE Red, Green and Blue inputs. TVF bias knobs are adjusted to set the keying thresholds and VBM amount knobs are adjusted to select the color produced by each key output. No manual tweaking during the clip. The clip used is from Plague Dogs (1982)."

LZX Featured in Neon Indian's "Mind, Drips" Video

Neon Indian "Mind, Drips" Official Video

YouTube Uploaded by neonindianband on Dec 6, 2010

I thought this was pretty cool. The following is the actual video description from the the band on YouTube. It's great to see successful bands directly support the makers like this. Neon Indian also worked with Bleep Labs on the PAL198X (links below).

"Lars Larsen is an electronics designer and multimedia artist in Austin, Texas. Larsen's work focuses on synergistic relationships between technology and subject, and the resurrection of forgotten pre-Computer Age technologies. Over the past few years, he and partner Edward Leckie of Sydney, Australia have been developing an analogue video synthesizer called the LZX Visionary in the tradition of esoteric video art tools used in the 1970's. The LZX Visionary manipulates and creates images in the same way a normal synthesizer does for sounds. Mind Drips is the first music video to utilize this unique synthesizer, and all of its visual effects are recorded in real-time using techniques such as abstract pattern synthesis, video feedback, and analog compositing. For more information on the LZX Visionary video synthesizer, visit http://www.lzxindustries.net or e-mail lars@lzxindustries.net

Eric Schlappi and Bastien Lavaud - Orbital Mirrors

video upload by SCHLAPPI ENGINEERING

"Part of an improvisational audiovisual jam session between Eric Schlappi and Bastien Lavaud on August 26th in Grenoble, France, lightly edited afterwards.

Audio is Eric Schlappi using a prototype of the Nibbler as a crude sequencer and another Nibbler at audio rate dividing down the lead synths frequency to create the bassline. The lead is a Three Body and the Kick is formed with the Angle Grinder and Boundary modules. There are also some overdubbed blasts of noise using a Nibbler at audio rate with the shift register functionality.

Video is Bastien Lavaud using a mix of @syntonie1487 (including the upcoming Solaire and Seuils modules) and @lzxindustries video modules as well as some video feedback through a camera.

Please watch in the highest available quality as compression is quite harsh on the video synthesis methods used.

Audio Oscillators with the LZX Visionary

YouTube Uploaded by lzxindustries on May 4, 2011

"This (long) tutorial shows how you can use some audio eurorack oscillators to create and modify video signals for use with an LZX Visionary system. Modules used include the WMD Gamma Wave Source, Wiard Oscillator, MakeNoise QMMG, and the Toppobrillo TWF.
Sorry about the poor production and editing!

Two notes: Some of the short video clips in the beginning used an LZX TVFKG and video mixer as well as the modules in this demo.
The output of the Wiard Oscillator always appears as a pulse wave because the input to the VBM was clipping. It is actually possible to get the full variety of waveforms when using the Voltage Interface I, or by more carefully setting the VBM controls.

Tutorial created by Johnny Woods, May 2011."
