"My good friend Charles Webster brought me a small gift from his recent Japanese/ Australian tour to help beef up the Microscopics studio: a copy of the latest Gakken magazine which also comes with an analog synth as a simple-to-build construct kit. There’s no soldering, or hair-pulling, you just need a small screwdriver and about half an hour.

It’s like a souped up Stylophone and about the same size, with a pen (you can pretend it’s a Fairlight light pen) that makes contact with a metal (or carbon in this case) keyboard to play the notes, except the SX-150 keyboard is continuous with no note divisions, so you’ll have to determine the notes by ear like on your Theremin. microscopics gas0095 Mini Mini

I recently picked up my copy of microscopics gas0095. If you remember this post, for a limited time the CD came with a mini Mini. It's made of cardboard and it's actually pretty nice. It was a bit smaller than I expected but it is definitely pretty cool. The control panel tilts. The back has graphics of the jacks and the underside actually has the electronics pictured. What really surprised me was the tiny printed manual. You can see it and more shots of mine here. Silk for iPad

Mat from microscopics wrote in letting me know about a new iPad app he has just released. It's not a synth, but rather a drawing app with synth generated ambient music in the background, and a wind chime effect while drawing. "The soundtrack and all sounds were made on the Arp Odyssey and Jupiter 6." You might remember the name Microscopics from various synth posts featured on this site as well as Osmos.

As far as what's on the tree: you should spot a Minimoog complete with manual, a vintage Moog Model 1P 5U modular system, and a new 5U Synthesizers.com system. The Minimoog and Model 1P were from microscopics as part of a promo for their gas0095 and High Skies releases years ago. The image used for the Model 1P actually comes from Tone Tweakers. It is quite possible it is actually this one for sale. Update: I heard back from Tone Tweakers. It looks like the one currently for sale is a different one.
