AVR Oscillator v. 0.1

YouTube via rpocc | July 01, 2010

"A very raw version of voltage controlled oscillator built on single ATTiny13A powered from 3V battery and working at 1.2 MHz (default).

Osc generationg pulse wave with wavelength proportional to applied voltage («Volt/Length» response)

408-byte wavelength table and simple code is required to get V/Oct response. In case of ATTiny (10-bit ADC, 8-bit MCU) hash-table method should be faster then pure calculations.

WIP. Project goal is extremely simple and cheap VCO for Lo-fi applications."

MIDI Messages from ATTiny13A

Looped MIDI melody from ATTiny13A to Doepfer Dark Energy

"rpocc | July 01, 2010

ATTiny13A MCU generationg MIDI stream with a fragment of traditional New Year song "Yolochka" (The christmas spruce) and controlling famous analog MIDI synth.
Source is pubbed at http://rpocc.quorum.su/diy/elochka.rar
MCU has only 1 KB of program memory, but I think, it can fit 3—4 times larger song data. Next goal — to select MIDI Data to be transmitted and generate real time messages such as Program or Control Change"

New Eurorack Maker Svarog Audio Introduces the Aspid Eurorack Module

Published on May 19, 2016 rpocc

Note: this is the first post to officially feature Svarog Audio on the site. The Aspid is their first module. Previous videos by rpocc primarily featured SSSR Labs.

Video description followed by full details on the new Aspid module:

"Eurorack module from Russia!

The Aspid Analog fuzz module by Svarog Audio was made especially for working with bass synthesizers and modules as well as kick, electro and bass-guitars. It is assembled by hand in accordance with the classic analog scheme. Only the best quality parts have been used, such as the original circuit LM308N and EPCOS film capacitors."

via Svarog Audio:

"Analog fuzz 'Aspid' by Svarog Audio was made specially for working with bass synthesizers and modules, 'kick' and also electro and bass-guitars. It's assembled by hand in accordance with the classic analog scheme. Only the best quality parts have been used, such as the original circuit LM308N and film capacitors EPCOS. It is screened to avoid interference.

The MIXING knob is used for mixing raw and processed incoming signals. This knob is meant for processing bass pieces and kicks. It's common knowledge that the overload effect reduces low frequencies to a certain extent. To avoid trapping of sound waves take advantage of the knob.

The VOLUME knob is the volume of effects. At its original position the mixing handle works as volume of the initial signal.

Tone enables you to regulate the quantity of a high frequency spectrum in the effect's sound.

GAIN is the degree of distortion.

FAT adds 'richness' to the sound structure.

CLIP MODE changes the structure of distortions.
The first mode gives a softer sound typical of vintage distortion effects. The second mode is meant for hard distortions, the sound acquires a lot of harmonics.

The 'GAIN' knob works together with 'fat' and 'clip mode'. Each of them affects the other two. It allows to obtain different variations of sounding the module."

This video contain review and several line recordings of the Delptronics LDB-1e Eurorack percussion module.
Made by Dmitry Shtatnov.

About sound source.
I have tested this module with probe and confirmed that 20-pin IC only making trigger pulses while all sound is generated by various ways of shaping of analog sound sources. So, i was wrong telling that sound is generated inside the uC. I think I was confused with so little amount of OpAmps. I'm quite nerdy in such things and always trying to search the truth. Thanks for understanding."

SSSR Labs VC Divider - Triggering hi-hats

Published on Oct 23, 2014 rpocc

"This is the first demo of SSSR Labs VC Divider showing Divider clocked by LFO at 1/24ppqn rate, and controlled by a 16-step sequencer, which defines output rate for clocks that are gating a hi-hat patch. Other instruments are controlled by gate outputs of the Orbitals, by individual outputs of the A-160/161 and by the Turing Machine.
For more information about this new module, please visit http://www.modularsynth.ru/en/sssrlab...
My camera has 15fps frame rate, so I still can't show crispy LEDs of the VC Divider module."

You can find more information about this Eurorack digital wavetable oscillator here: https://sssrlabs.com/store/sm042/

I've made this video in response to a customer's email with the request for a demo containing straight scanning through waves without any sequencing, melodies or something. Fortunately I just built a unit for my local dealer and was able to shot this demo.

Please don't hesitate to write at sssrlabs@sssrlabs.com for additional questions, bug reports, feature requests, availability quote or anything else related to SSSR Labs production.

Thank you. Dmitry Shtatnov."

"The SSSR Labs VC Divider is a dual, voltage controlled frequency divider module. It is equally suitable for both low-frequency or audio-rate signals, so it can be used with LFOs, clock sources, oscillators, or even noise or speech sources. Thanks to a space saving old-school design, the Eurorack version of this DIY-friendly module occupies only 4hp.

The VC Divider consists of two channels, which can work separately or be linked in different ways. Each channel has one clock input and one clock output. The division factor of each channel can be selected either manually with knobs, or remotely with a voltage applied to the control inputs. The division method is a «musical» type, which means that all patterns generated by this module will be perfectly in beat if they are all reset simultaneously. Unlike Flip-flop or binary counter based dividers, SSSR Labs VC Divider keeps the duration of incoming clocks intact, so it is not only able to trigger envelope generators, but can also directly gate them, providing articulation uniformity with variable rhythmic patterns.

The VC Divider can be used in many different ways: to control a rhythmic pattern of percussive instruments with a sequencer or another clocked CV source, or to divide a master clock to get traditional note durations, or even to get distinctive sub-oscillation. With this module you can easily do stylish complex hi-hat patterns, or create unusual polyrhythmic textures. The linear mode also allows creating patches which imitate game console sound effects.

Modules are shipped as DIY kits. The PCB supports Eurorack format as well as open modular formats such as MOTM and accepts both 12v and 15v supply. It is designed to be easily expanded to add a number of additional features such as: individual reset inputs, advanced signal routing and mode selection. Even when there is no expander, the module can be configured with a few jumpers. Each part has its own dedicated micro-controller in order to achieve the best performance. The firmware is written in assembly language ensuring minimal latency."
