KJX: Cathedral Fog
YouTube via FlametopFred | September 24, 2010
"The evening mist swirled around the trunks of the oaks as we walked out from their safety into the opening beside the cathedral. It was here that the robots ambushed the vampires. Phil was the first victim."
Note the custom keyboard with wood panel. Anyone ID it? Answer in the Update below.
KJX: Collins on the Banks of the Rutherford
FlametopFred | September 24, 2010
"Phil clambered out of his Ford pickup and stood on the banks of the Rutherford river. It was a nice spot."
Update via FlametopFred:
"The controller is one I built and is called a "Mininordessey"
Controller started as an M-Audio e49 Radium.
Which I then dismantled, cut-up and built a new wood case around.
If you google "Mininordessey" you can see the design and build photos.
A salute to both the Minimoog (obviously) as well as the Arp Oddyssy.
Nord Rack there on a hinged small rack.
Works like a charm!
My other primary MIDI controller is the Electone EL-40. Also works like a charm. 3 separate MIDI channels and MIDI sync for drum machines and so on. Very fun to play.
I am next working on a GX-1 style MIDI controller."

Heavy Wood Improv 019 Op.4166: Fool's Gold: the Alaska Overture [Ode to Electone] E-70
"by vamping on some UK and Supertramp, came up with this new composition that fuses the two ideas behind "Alaska" and "Fool's Overture"
Found this E-70 for $150 locally. Finding that the Yamaha E-70 home organ is a very inspirational (and fun) music making machine. Everyone should have one. Some assembly required. Well, not really. Just heavy. You need two or three good friends, including one with a small truck or large van. Heavy. But fun."

E-70 b) the ALASKA test
YouTube via FlametopFred
"One of the standard tests to see how close a keyboard is to the CS-80. Eddie Jobson's "Alaska" from the first U.K. album set the bar which the E-70 meets and hurdles over. Same basic sonic engine."
